Learning Center

“I Want To Learn” … children of our urban environment here are not completing the requirements for their high school diploma at alarming rates. Lacking is the motivation to learn. We encourage our kids to believe in their own individual ability to become, initiating a desire to achieve academically. When a young person says, “… I want to learn”, we have achieved our first goal. The rest is simply a matter of providing and nurturing.

Our Learning Center offers tutoring for those in traditional school environments, consultation for those at challenging cross-roads, and alternative learning solutions. We are an independent learning center with computer stations, that augment the “home school” E.C.O.T. program.

Some young people, like Judy, are encouraged to return to traditional high school. She graduated high school in 2000. Others may be encouraged to complete their work at North Adult Education Services. Miranda completed her G.E.D. in 2006.

Future vision includes development of child care, beginning with infants. Here at Agora we have discovered that greater success is achieved when more time is spent with young people. Success rates rise as children are introduced to Agora’s positive environment at younger ages.
