I Want To Learn

From very young ages children are learning. If children hear what a mistake they were, how they are not wanted, that they will not amount to anything, that they are stupid, that they can do nothing right, or so on, why do we expect anything but high drop-out rates? Some parents even take measures to “dumb” down their children to ensure a government check. These are only the challenges they face at home. Some schools determine that the dysfunctional behavior and underachieving efforts illustrate that the school environment would be better without them. There are schools that encourage troubled youth to leave. Those same schools utilize “no child left behind” money.

Agora’s first effort is to encourage young people to see the innate potential within them. When a young person acknowledges that they can achieve, they have someone who believes in them, and there is a place for them, it will give way to growth. The illiterate will learn to read and they will help others to learn. This is how it will go for all the essential learning fundamentals that will assist in their success in life.
Agora’s goal is to get young people to believe in themselves. We want them to say, “I want to learn.”
